Computer Science is a branch of study that has emerged with immense potentiality over the last few decades. Computer Science implements the mathematical theories in reality. Now a days, Computer Science is used in every field of human life. Computer Science produces high precision safety & security for every work. Computer Science and Engineering deals with the technological aspects of development of computer hardware, software and their applications in real life. The department of Computer Science & Engineering was started in the year of 1998 with an objective to impart high quality education and training through the latest computer technology.

  • To motivate the aspirant engineers with the state-of-the-art technical knowledge to unleash their technical, professional, creativity, ethical potentiality and social awareness.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)
  • The graduates will have professional abilities to understand and deal with the technological aspects of the development of computer software , computer hardware and applications in real life.

  • The graduates will be trained to apply their knowledge and skills in formulating , designing and solving problems related to fields such as programming , networking , database designing , software analysis and testing and advanced computing systems.

Programme Duration & Title

The department of CSE offers four year graduate level programme in CSE, preparing the students for obtaining their degree in B.Tech(CSE) following the curriculum prescribed by the Maulana Abul Kalam Azad University of Technology (formerly West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). The degree is approved by All India Council of Technical Education(AICTE), New Delhi.

Programme Structure

An academic year is divided into two semesters. The academic duration covers eight semesters each of six months . The odd semester begins in July and the even semester begins in January with a mid-semesters break in June. The first six semesters cover the core subjects in the field dealing with the concepts of Basic Science, Computer Science and programming, Computational Intelligence & models, theories and practices of database and network designs, software modeling, exposure to programming languages and softwares. The final academic year covers subjects of humanities & management and specialization papers as would be selected by the student from the elective papers of the course along with a project work, seminars and Personality & interpersonal skill development.

Infrastructures & Facilities

The department has equipped and fully developed programming laboratories with Wi-fi internet facilities round the clock. The students are provided with the modern desktop computer terminals with IntelR Core i3 processor installed with licensed system softwares, and application softwares for database design and development, data structures programming, network programming, Object-oriented programming, systems programming and administration, Multimedia and computer graphics application development. The laboratories are fully equipped with laserjet printers, scanners, networking peripherals, dedicated dual operating (Windows & Linux)Online Uninterrupted power Supply(UPS) has been installed in the laboratories for power back-up of the computing equipments. Interactive teaching aids are available in the laboratories and classrooms to facilitate the teaching-learning process.The department has four spacious and airy lecture rooms to accommodate around sixty seats for theoretical deliberations. The text and reference books of the course curriculum needed for the undergraduate programme are stocked in adequate quantity in central and departmental library for issuing to the learners on demand. The lectures, practicals and tutorials are conducted by dedicated group of well-qualified and experienced faculty and technical staffs.

Co-Curricular & Extra-Curricular Activities

The students, faculty and staffs of the department actively participate in games and sports, cultural function (CORUS), blood donation camps. The department has conducted IEEE-CIS seminars, workshops on software application developments on recent technology and platforms (PHP-MySQL, Android , Hadoop ). Industrial visits and trainings have been organised for pre-final and final year students.
