MCET was established in 1998 and over the years expanded and introduced new B.Tech programs to meet the man power requirement. B.Tech program in Electrical Engineering was introduced in the year 2009 with an annual intake of 30 students. This year the intake capacity is going to be raised to 60. The college has already an excellent infrastructure to accommodate the new program. The development of additional new laboratories namely power system lab, thermal power engineering and machine lab are in progress in right earnest.

To create best engineering minds to serve the nation and mankind in general and to develop technical center of excellence in the field of Electrical Engineering with an objective to impart high quality education and training through the latest electrical technology to ensure high precision safety and security of work.

Mission

To motivate the aspirant engineers with the state-of-the-art technical knowledge to unleash their technical, professional, creativity, ethical potentiality and social awareness.
To evolve a system of optimum practical skill by providing a balanced curriculum of practical demonstrations and theoretical deliberations under the guidance of fleet of dedicated and experienced teachers and upgraded learning resources.
To create a lively learning atmosphere by continuous teacher-student interaction,interaction with professional entrepreneurs and team works.
To provide individual training befitting the skill and interest of each student in order to experience with the realistic systems and applications and to maintain relevance of courses of studies.
To organize soft skill development sessions and specialized skill training required by the industry for improving employability of the graduates.
To improve learning outcomes and personality development of the students.
To enhance faculty and staff knowledge and competence through training programs and qualification up gradation by sponsoring them for higher studies and research.

Programme Educational Objectives (PEOs)

The graduates will have professional abilities to understand and deal with the technological aspects of the development of electrical technologies and it's applications in real life.
The graduates will be trained to apply their knowledge and skills in formulating , designing and solving problems related to their fields.
The graduates will be prepared to contribute as skilled technical human resource of power industries and organizations.
Opportunities will be provided during graduation to develop their personality, soft skills, communication skills, social awareness and responsibility, discipline and sense of duties, improve the performance of weak students and to explore talents in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
The department will enhance and enrich technically qualified human resource, provision for standardized and upgraded physical and learning resources and infrastructure and facilities to match the objectives and outcomes of the programme offered, foundation for higher studies and improve the quality of teaching- learning process and employability of the graduates.

Programme Structure

It is a 4 year course and is divided into eight semesters. For each subject students are continuously evaluated with the help of assignments and tutorials. Two internal tests are taken in each semester to enhance the learning capability of the students.

Laboratories

Already well equipped core laboratories like Basic Electrical, Circuit Theory, Electrical Measurement, Control System and Power Electronics labs are in operation. The machines and instruments of machine lab, Power System Lab and Thermal Power Engineering lab have been procured and installation is going on in full swing.

Seminars & Conferences

Seminars are arranged by the college as well as the department to keep the students well informed about the newest developments in the field of electrical and interdisciplinary subjects. Eminent Professors and Scientists are invited to share their vast knowledge with the students. Along with this the students are always encouraged to participate in Tech Fests organized by other colleges like IIT, BESU and Jadavpur University to name a few.
